A calorimeter for the detection of gammas and lip-lit charged particles is devised within the R B-3 setup. It features high resolution, large absorption efficiency and good gamma sum energy resolution and multiplicity determination. In the article We include a brief description of the proposed calorimeter geometry, the simulation package developed for the analysis of the calorimeter response and the first crystal tests performed in our laboratory at the USC.
