In this study we consider using an interconnected Takagi-Sugeno (TS) technique and a fuzzy Lyapunov method to derive the stability conditions for a real nonlinear time-delay structural system. The proposed design method is designed to provide a systematic and effective framework for the control of nonlinear structural systems subjected to external excitation. The effectiveness and the feasibility of the proposed interconnected TS technique are demonstrated through numerical simulations based on a structure that is subjected to forces like those of the Chi Chi earthquake that occurred in Taiwan in 1999.
