A hetero-polynuclear complex, [{CuLNa}(2)(-(1,1,3)-NCS)HgCl(-Cl)(-(1,3)-NCS)](n) {H2L = N,N-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)propane-1,3-diamine}, has been synthesized and characterized. The estimated optical band gap indicates that the complex belongs to the semiconductor family. The photosensitivity of the complex is also very high (approximate to 57). This complex finds application in the fabrication of a Schottky barrier diode.
