Ibrutinib in Relapsed Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

To the Editor: Byrd et al. (July 4 issue)(1) describe the beneficial targeting of Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) with ibrutinib in relapsed chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and we note the absence of any visual deterioration in the cohort. We herein report on an 80-year-old woman with CLL who had received ibrutinib for the preceding 6 months and who had a 1-month history of deteriorating vision. Examination revealed a best corrected vision of 20/40 in each eye and bilateral cataracts of a very unusual phenotype (Figure 1).
