We demonstrate single-nanowire plasmonic gratings made by focused-ion-beam milling of single Au nanowires. At the optical communication band, a 290 nm diameter Au nanowire with grating length of 15.6 mu m offers evident grating features with a transmission dip up to similar to 3.3 dB. The grating effects in typical Au nanowires with different grating parameters (e.g. grating depth, width and length) are also investigated. Our results suggest a novel approach to one-dimensional plasmonic gratings with high compactness and flexibility, which may find applications in low-dimensional wavelength-selective plasmonic circuits and devices.
