This paper describes the newly discovered species Simocybe montana, which grows in the alpine belt of the European mountains. The species is characterized by a central stipe, large (especially broad), broadly ellipsoid to amygdaliform spores, and occurrence on calcareous soils in the alpine belt. Full description and illustrations of macro- and micromorphological features of the new taxon are provided.
