On frame indifferent formulation of the Maxwell-Cattaneo model of finite-speed heat conduction

A material-invariant (frame indifferent) version of the Maxwell-Cattaneo law is proposed in which the relaxation rate of the heat flux is given by Oldroyd's upper-convected derivative. It is shown that the new formulation allows for the elimination of the heat flux, thus yielding a single equation for the temperature field. This feature is to be expected from a truly frame indifferent description. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
