Computed tomography reconstructions by DIRECTT - 2D model calculations compared to filtered backprojection. In contrast to the well-known filtered backprojection the new reconstruction algorithm DIRECTT (direct iterative reconstruction of computed tomography trajectories) handles the projections of objects by selectively filtered inverse Radon transform in an iterative procedure. The resulting spatial resolution exceeds the detector resolution considerably due to avoiding the limitations of the sampling theorem by oversampling of the trajectories. 2D model calculations demonstrate further advantages in case of region-of-interest and limited view projections as compared to filtered backprojection.
