The microstructure and mechanical properties of (FeCrNiCo)AlxCuy high-entropy alloys and their TiC-reinforced composites were investigated. The high-entropy alloys with excellent mechanical properties are mainly composed of FCC solid solutions and spinodal decomposition tissues. With incorporation of composite preforms made of Al, Ti and C elemental powders into the molten materials, TiC-reinforced high-entropy alloy composites were prepared, which greatly increased the comprehensive mechanical properties of the high-entropy alloy matrix. Particularly for (FeCrNiCo)Al0.75Cu0.25+10 vol%TiC composite, the hardness, yield stress and fracture stress were as high as 621 HV, 1637 MPa and 2972 MPa, respectively. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V.
