The FePO4 center dot 2H(2)O submicrometer-discs with a diameter of 1-1.51 mu m and thickness of 300-500 nm are successfully synthesized through a facile heat reflux method. The composition, microstructure, and morphology of the as-prepared materials were characterized by thermogravimetry (TG), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The morphologies of the products can be easily tuned by adjusting the concentrations of the reactants. XRD result shows that it is the monoclinic structure. From the HRTEM result, the preferential growth direction of the synthesized material was [002]. Compared with the common particles, these micrometer discs will be more fascinating for application in many areas. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
