Nanocrystalline copper oxides (CuO) were immobilized onto the woven and non-woven fabrics at room temperature by reactive DC magnetron sputtering. XRD pattern revealed the immobilization of CuO onto the fabrics. The antimicrobial test for the resultant CuO-fabric composites was performed against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacterium using Agar diffusion plate test. The killing efficiency of bacteria and conformations of bacterial cell damage was noticed. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
