NiMoO4 center dot H2O nanoclusters with one-dimensional nanorods have been synthesized via a facile and rapid microwave assisted method. The formation mechanism of the NiMoO4 center dot H2O is confirmed as speedy selfassembly process via controlling the reaction time using FTIR technology. The as-prepared NiMoO4 center dot H2O nanoclusters have a uniform size of 3 mu m and are composed of NiMoO4 center dot H2O nanorods of about length of I pm and diameter of 100 nm, which shows a specific capacitance of 680 F g(-1) at a current density of 1 A g(-1), and good reversibility with a cycling efficiency of 98% after 1000 cycles. The excellent electrochemical performance makes the microwave assisted synthesis of NiMoO4 center dot H2O nanoclusters a promising electrode material for supercapacitors. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V.
