Preparation and characterization of polyimide membranes containing Ag nanoparticles in pores distributing on one side

Herein, we report on the preparation and characterization of polyimide (PI) membranes containing Ag nanoparticles in pores distributing on one side. The presence of the Ag nanoparticles in the pores was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Plasma Emission Spectrometer. The results showed that the pores distributed on bottom side of the membranes, and the Ag nanoparticles dispersed evenly on the wall of the pores. The pores provided excellent dispersing environment for the Ag nanoparticles. The quantities and dispersing densities of Ag nanoparticles are larger when they are prepared from silver nitrate (AgNO3) solutions with higher concentration. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
