Superhydrophobic antireflective boehmite films with different topographies were made by the sol-gel process with variation of heat-treatment temperatures and film thicknesses. A set of roughness parameters was determined from atomic force microscope (AFM) to relate the superhydrophobic and antireflective properties to the surface topographies. The results demonstrate the power of the roughness parameters to identify such superhydrophobic antireflective films. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
