Highly regioselective Pd/C-catalyzed direct arylation toward thiophene-based π-conjugated polymers

We have successfully developed an efficient and regioselective direct arylation polycondensation of thiophenes using Pd/C heterogeneous catalysts. The highly regioselective polycondensation of thiophene monomers was achieved under phosphine-free conditions to give linear p-conjugated alternating copolymers with high molecular weight in high yield.
