Phthalocyanines, porphyrins and analogs are highly versatile and stable molecules with an extended pi-aromatic system and high extinction coefficients, making them suitable for integration in solar cells as photoactive components and/or as light-harvesting materials. The most significant results by Spanish groups in the field are collected in this report.
