TAM RKRNR-9 (Reg. No. GP-941; PI 662039) and TAM RKRNR-12 (Reg. No. CP-942; PI 662040) with resistance to the reniform (Rotylenchulus reniformis Linford & Oliveira) and root-knot [Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid & White) Chitwood] nematodes are noncommercial breeding lines of upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) released by Texas AgriLife Research in 2010. Both lines were derived from the cross of the root-knot nematode resistant line M-315 RNR (G. hirsutum L.), and the reniform nematode resistant line Tx110 (G. barbadense L.). The resistance to reniform is moderate, suppressing nematode reproduction by 40-70%. The resistance to root-knot nematodes is high, similar to that of the M-315 RNR parent, with more than 90% suppression of reproduction and low amounts of root galling. This unique combination of resistance to the reniform and root-knot nematodes makes these breeding lines valuable for cotton-breeding programs.
