In this paper the synthesis of new iron(0) carbonyl complexes with p-bonded ligands containing at least two silicon-vinyl groups of formula [Fe(CO)(3)L] and [{Fe(CO)(3)}(2)L'] are described. The synthesis is done via UV light initiated substitution of carbonyl ligands in [Fe(CO)(5)] or [Fe-2(CO)(9)] precursors by organosilicon dienes, trienes, vinyl functional silicones (L), tetraenes (L'). The spectroscopic study (H-1 and C-13 NMR) and X-ray analysis of these novel complexes showed that they are all 5 coordinate exhibiting two geometric environments, i.e. trigonal bipyramidal or tetragonal pyramidal.
