In this work Tin oxide nanoparticles were synthesized and loaded on activated carbon (SnO2-NP-AC). Prepared SnO2-NP-AC was used as an adsorbent for the removal of Malachite green-oxalate from aqueous medium. The morphological properties of the prepared adsorbent were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and BET analysis. The removal percentage in batch mode was investigated at various operating parameters like; initial pH, contact time, amount of adsorbents and initial dye concentration. The experimental equilibrium data were analyzed by using various models and it was seen that Langmuir isotherm model fitted well with maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 142.87 mg g(-1). The adsorption kinetic data followed both pseudo second-order kinetics and intraparticle diffusion mechanism. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
