Tb3+ optical transitions in novel luminescence host NaAlO2

Alkali metal aluminates NaAlO2 doped with rare earth (Tb3+) ions synthesized by solution combustion synthesis. The prepared sample was characterized through XRD technique for structural conformation and studied for morphology through SEM image. The photoluminescence spectra revealed that NaAlO2:Tb3+ gives strong green emission related to D-5(4)-> F-7(5) optical transition of Tb3+. The main emission wavelength of NaAlO2:Tb is at 547 nm for 236 nm excitation. Also the host is studied for optimum concentration Tb3+ to get highest intensity of emission from D-5(4)-> F-7(5) optical transition of Tb3+. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
