An optically tunable optoelectronic oscillator that generate millimeter wave signals of sextupling Brillouin frequency shift based on gain-loss compensation technique (GLCT) and carrier phase-shifted double sideband modulation (CPS-DSB) is proposed and theoretically analyzed. The GLCT is exploited to generate a triple Brillioun frequency shift oscillator signal through Brillouin amplification and a pi/2 CPS-DSB modulation using a dual parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator are implemented to double the oscillation frequency and finally achieve the sextuple millimeter wave signal. Profit from the wavelength-dependent Brillouin frequency shift at f (b) , frequency-sextupling signal at 6f (b) which could be tunable from 52.78500-56.68500 GHz by tuning the wavelength of the laser source is realized in theory.
