Nanoporous alumina- and borosilicate materials, produced using an evaporation-induced self-assembly approach (EISA), efficiently catalyse the Meinwald rearrangement of epoxides in dimethyl carbonate (DMC) to produce the corresponding carbonyl compounds in high yield and excellent selectivity.
