A new coordination polymer [Ag(C(6)H(5)NHC(6)H(4) SO(3))] (1) was synthesized by the reaction of sodium diphenylamine sulfonate, [C(6)H(5)NHC(6)H(4)SO(3)Na] (NaL, L = C(6)H(5)NHC(6)H(4)SO(3)(-)) and silver nitrate and its structure was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystals are triclinic P (1) over bar space group with cell parameters a = 5.640(1) angstrom, b = 10.711(2) angstrom and c = 10.737(2) angstrom, alpha = 117.70(1)degrees, beta = 90.95(1)degrees, gamma = 94.51(1)degrees, V = 571.5 (4) angstrom(3), and Z = 2. The X-ray analysis shows that each silver cation is 4-coordinated by three oxygen atoms and one phenyl ring carbon atom. Silver cations are bridged by sulfonate groups to form an 8-membered closed ribbon structure, each ribbon is connected to the two neighboring ribbons through the organometallic bonds between the phenyl carbon atoms and the silver ions of the neighboring ribbons to form twodimensional layer.
