Bifidobacterium animalis RH is a probiotic bacterium producing exopolysaccharides, which was isolated from the feces of Bama centenarians in Guangxi, China. The genome consists of one chromosome (1,931,057 bp) with no plasmid. The genomic sequence indicated that this strain includes a gene cluster involved in exopolysaccharides (EPS) biosynthesis. Genome sequencing information provides the basis for analysis of molecular mechanisms responsible for regulation of production of EPS. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
