The effects of Fe@C nanoparticles on the lithium storage performance of VS4 anode

Fe@C-VS4/RGO composite is synthesized via ball-milling the mixture of VS4/RGO and Fe@C nanoparticles, and exhibits better electrochemical stability than the pristine VS4/RGO. Through the CV, galvanostatic tests in different potential range, and DFT calculation, it is found that metal nanoparticles play positive effects on the redox reactions of VS4, which can restrain the irreversible reactions between polysulfides and ester based electrolytes, and catalyze the conversion of Li2S into S. our results provide a new strategy to improve the electrochemical stability of sulfur/sulfides electrodes in carbonate ester electrolytes via the incorporation of metal nanoparticles.
