Thermal conductivity of as-cast and as-extruded Mg-0.5Al, Mg-0.9Al, and Mg-1.5Al (at.%) alloys was measured using flash method in the temperature range 20-240 degrees C. With the increase of Al content, the thermal conductivity decreased dramatically in the as-cast Mg-Al alloys. After extrusion, the thermal conductivity of the as-extruded alloys was lower except for the as-extruded Mg-1.5Al alloy, whose thermal conductivity kept almost the same as the as-cast Mg-1.5Al alloy due to the precipitation of Mg17Al12. Anisotropy of thermal conductivity was found in the as-extruded alloys because of the texture formed during extrusion. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
