The changes of spectroscopic, thermal and electrical properties of PVDF/PEO containing lithium nanoparticles

Nanocomposites films of PEO/PVDF loaded with low concentration of LiTi2O4 nanoparticles were prepared and investigated. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealing the main peaks of the blend were observed. The peaks of LiTi2O4 which were disappeared in all films indicates that the complete dissolution of LiTi2O4 in amorphous regions. The results of XRD, FTIR, SEM and thermal studies indicated that the addition of LiTi2O4 can reduce the degree of crystallinity of attributed to suppression of recognition of polymeric chains by LiTi2O4 nanopowders. SEM images showed that the addition of LiTi2O4 may improve the surface morphology. The conductivity temperature plots over frequency range 42 Hz-5 MHz under temperature range 303-433 k were found to follow an Arrhenius nature. The rise of conductivity is significant with increased LiTi2O4 contents reveals an increase in amorphosity. The increase of conductivity at low frequency attributed to bulk conductivity and at high frequency due to mobility of charge carriers. The maximum conductivity was found at 1.548 x 10(-7) S cm(-1) for 0.5 wt.% of LiTi2O4. The transport number results which indicate that the charge transport in this system is predominantly due to ions. According to the above results, the samples may be exhibit superior potential for rechargeable lithium batteries. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
