Microwave dielectric properties of x(Mg0.7Zn0.3)0.95Co0.05TiO3-(1-x)Ca0.8Sm0.4/3TiO3 ceramics with a zero temperature coefficient of resonant frequency

High-quality x(Mg0.7Zn0.3)(0.95)Co0.05TiO3-(1-x)Ca0.8Sm0.4/3TiO3 ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction. The products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and network analyzer. (Mg0.7Zn0.3)(0.95)Co0.05TiO3 has a dielectric constant (epsilon(r)) of similar to 20, a high-quality factor (Qxf) of similar to 163,560 GHz, and a temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (tau(f)) of similar to-65 ppm/degrees C. To produce a temperature-stable material, Ca0.8Sm0.4/3TiO3, which has a large positive tau(f) value of 400 ppm/degrees C, was added to (Mg0.7Zn0.3)(0.95)Co0.05TiO3, 0.85(Mg0.7Zn0.3)(0.95)Co0.05TiO3-0.15Ca(0.8)Sm(0.4/3)TiO(3) has an excellent combination of microwave dielectric properties: epsilon(r) similar to 29.5, Q x f similar to 65,000 (at 9 GHz), and tau(f) similar to 1 ppm/degrees C sintered at 1175 degrees C, and can be utilized in the fabrication of microwave devices.
