An investigation of ultrahigh-density ferroelectric data storage based on scanning nonlinear dielectric microscopy (SNDM) is described. To obtain fundamental knowledge of high-density ferroelectric data storage, several studies of nanodomain formation in a congruent lithium tantalate single crystal were conducted.
