Asthma linked to psychiatric disorders

A new research concludes that individuals with asthma are more at risk of developing psychological disorders such as anxiety disorder, depression and posttraumatic stress disorder. Children and adolescents are found to carry a two-fold higher risk of having depression or anxiety disorders. The research also evaluates that females with asthma who come from poor economic background have a greater risk of developing comorbid psychiatric disorders.
