The South of Thailand is a long narrow peninsula and can further be divided into the upper-south and lower-south regions. This paper presents the Thai anthropometric data collected from university students in southern Thailand (combination of upper-south and lowersouth areas), and students specifically originated from lower-southern region. One hundred male and 100 female students from southern Thailand, and 50 male and 50 female students from lower-southern Thailand participated in this study. Descriptive statistics give mean, standard deviation, and percentile values of each population group. The comparison between the current Thai anthropometric data and other existing Thai anthropornetric data is presented. There were significant differences in weight, stature, and other body dimensions between the populations. These results suggest that it is essential to incorporate accurate anthropometry in the design process, as well as in the application of biomechanical models. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
