Carbon enrichment in austenite after the cessation of bainite transformations in an Fe-3Mn-0.08C alloy was measured by FE-EPMA. The carbon content in austenite is lower than paraequilibrium composition, and undercoolings from paraequilibrium model vary from 400 to 1000 J/mol, while carbon contents are higher than those predicted by negligible partitioning local equilibrium model. On the other hand, it was found that undercoolings from T (0) composition are nearly the constant, 400 J/mol, at the temperatures investigated.
