Silver(I) coordination polymers, [Ag(bpba)(CF3SO3)]center dot 0.5CH(3)CN (1) and [Ag-2(bpba)(2)(NO3)(2)]center dot CH3CN center dot H2O (2) with bis(4-pyridyl)benzylamine (bpba) have been prepared and structurally characterized. 1 shows two-dimensional structure formed by the offset pi-pi stacking interactions between ladder-like chains, whereas 2 displays three-dimensional network linked by one-dimensional chains with 8-shaped. Different from 1, 2 appears a strong visible emission ranging from 450 to 550 nm. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
