A novel coordination polymer [Zn-3(btrc)(2)( L1)](n), (1) (H(3)btrc = 1, 2, 4-benzenetricarboxylic acid; L1 = 1, 3-bis (4-pyridyl)propane) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that polymer 1 presents an unusual example of (3, 6, 10)-connected net with (4.6.7) (5(2).6(6).7(7)) (4(16).5(12).6(4).7(13)) topology symbol, where btrc(3-), Zn-2(CO2)(4), and Zn-4(CO2)(8) units act as three-, six-, and ten-connecting nodes, respectively. In addition, the IR spectra, luminescence properties and thermogravimetric analysis of this polymer are investigated in this study. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
