The solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients in alkanes, alcohols, water, and their mixtures has been calculated with the Schroeder-van Laar equation. Different thermodynamic models have been used to calculate the required activity coefficients. From the models not depending on experimental solubility data of the active pharmaceutical ingredient in other solvents, the best results were obtained with a revised group contribution approach called Pharma Mod. UNIFAC.
