I submitted my paper in mid-June 2020, and it quickly went under review. Two months later, in mid-August, I received the first round of comments: three reviewers, two major revisions and one minor revision - overall, it required major revisions. The first two reviewers provided very professional and knowledgeable feedback, while the third reviewer who suggested minor revisions seemed unfamiliar with my field. The second reviewer explicitly asked for the source code to reproduce the results, which I was reluctant to provide. However, during the second round of review, the first and third reviewers agreed without any issues, but the second reviewer insisted on obtaining the source code and seemed angry about it. So, I reluctantly provided it. I made the necessary revisions and resubmitted the paper in early September, and received the second round of review at the end of September. I submitted the final version in early October and received the notification that the final decision is being processed at the end of October. After a few rounds of proofreading, on November 19th, I received the Notification of Formal Acceptance for PONE, indicating it was formally accepted. I paid the fees on November 21st. The paper was published online on December 2nd, according to Eastern Standard Time in the United States.

It took 4 months for the article to be accepted. It was submitted on September 19th and officially accepted on January 23rd. It went through major and minor revisions. The experts' review was very thorough, and they provided a 5-page list of modifications which greatly helped improve the quality of the article. Some issues were also discussed. In conclusion, it is not like what is said online about it being a low-quality journal. It may have undergone some improvements this year as it did not make it to the international SCI alert list. If the article is in the field of basic science with strong scientific content but lacking innovation, Plos One is an excellent choice. One more thing, it is not acceptable for some netizens to have already submitted to Plos One and still belittle the journal. Regardless of the purpose for submitting to Plos One, if you choose to submit to it, you must accept some negative feedback.
