Finally, there are results for the ultra-long standby. This is my second SCI paper, which took nearly 14 months from submission to acceptance (the third paper was accepted much earlier...). The peer review process for SCI papers heavily relies on luck. The only thing that can be controlled is one's own writing speed, while the other parts are left to fate. Supplementary: The main reason for the long duration of this submission is frequent changes in reviewers. The reviewers for the first round had numbers #1, #3, and #4; for the second round, #1, #5, and #6; for the third round, #7 and #10; and for the fourth round, #7 and #10. If the reviewers were stable, it should not have taken this long. The specific peer review process is as follows:
9.3 2020: Submitted
9.23 2020: Under review
11.10 2020: Under review
12.16 2020: Required reviews completed
12.29 2020: Required reviews completed
1.29 2021: Decision in process
