Solid Earth (SE) is a not-for-profit journal that publishes multidisciplinary research on the composition, structure, dynamics of the Earth from the surface to the deep interior at all spatial and temporal scales. The journal invites contributions encompassing observational, experimental, and theoretical investigations in the form of short communications, research articles, method articles, review articles, and discussion and commentaries on all aspects of the solid Earth (for details see manuscript types). Being interdisciplinary in scope, SE covers the following disciplines:
geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology, volcanology;
geodesy and gravity;
geodynamics: numerical and analogue modeling of geoprocesses;
geoelectrics and electromagnetics;
geomagnetism;
geomorphology, morphotectonics, and paleoseismology;
rock physics;
seismics and seismology;
critical zone science (Earth's permeable near-surface layer);
stratigraphy, sedimentology, and palaeontology;
rock deformation, structural geology, and tectonics.

On February 21, the preprint was posted in the discussion area for public discussion;
On April 12 and May 4, two reviewers and the editor publicly provided revision suggestions in the discussion area;
On June 19, the author replied to the questions in the discussion area;
On June 22, the author uploaded the revised manuscript.
On June 28, the editor provided partial modification suggestions regarding language issues;
On July 8, the author uploaded the revised manuscript again.
On July 20, the editor stated that the manuscript met the acceptance criteria.
On August 12, the handling editor confirmed the acceptance.
Subsequently, it entered the proofreading process...
On August 31, the manuscript was published online.
In conclusion, the efficiency of communication with the editor was very high throughout the entire process of this journal. The overall duration of the process mainly depends on the reviewers.

Uploaded revised manuscript on February 3;
Accepted on February 12;
Online on March 9.
The editor's handling speed is fast, and the reviewers' comments are professional. Due to the Chinese New Year, the revised manuscript was uploaded a bit late. If time is managed well, it can be submitted at least half a month earlier.
