Materials Advances

The speed is incredible, with fast review, publication, and indexing. The only drawback is that it currently does not have an impact factor or category. The first impact factor is expected to be released in June next year, and the category is unknown, possibly around November-December next year. Previously, there was no page charge, and there was an option to apply for exemption when submitting a manuscript. Now they have started charging page fees, but I applied for exemption and it was easily approved. However, it might become more difficult to get exemption from page charges in the future, possibly due to being a new journal. Its positioning should be higher than RSC Advances but not as high as JMCA-C, somewhere in between the two.

The EES review was rejected and the editor suggested submitting to MA. Approaching graduation, I don't want to argue with EES and accept the transfer. All three reviewers were highly positive and accepted, and I received a cover invitation. The journal process is fast, indicating that the editor wants to develop MA vigorously. Currently, the accepted papers are mainly focused on review, and research is relatively difficult. It is expected to have the first IF in early 2023, and I heard it was about 7.5 before, but now it should be close to 7, not as high as rumored. The journal has a relatively new positioning and requires high innovation, not like RCS Advances which is open access.
