Surfaces and Interfaces

I helped review manuscripts for this journal because it only provides reviewers with a 14-day review period, which is quite fast! After all, I have reviewed more than 20 different journals, and it is not common for them to have a 14-day review period. So I submitted an article as well, but it has been five months and I still haven't received the first review. I sent a reminder halfway through, and they only replied that some of the review comments have not yet been returned, and only one review comment has been received so far. I am extremely frustrated... Does it really take half a year for the first review to come back? Based on others' comments, the speed of the first review for this journal varies. For those who value speed, I advise taking a detour...

Last year on December 25th, I submitted my paper, and it was under review by the 28th.
After three months with no response, I sent a reminder. They informed me that none of the three reviewers had provided any feedback, and they were all overdue. The editor then sent a new set of reviewers.
After 20 days, I contacted customer service and found out that none of the new reviewers had accepted the review.
In total, it has been four months. It's as if they haven't been able to find any reviewers.
As someone working in the field of electrochemistry, all I can say is... this is the least efficient journal I have ever encountered in my research career...
