The purpose of the Integrated Preclinical/Clinical AIDSVaccine Development Program (IPCAVD) Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) isto facilitate the translation of vaccine candidates into early clinicaltesting. The IPCAVD program is designed to enable a multi-disciplinary team tocomplete necessary steps from final down-selection of an advanced HIV-1 vaccinecandidate through regulatory submissions needed for clinical trial(s). Thesesteps include technology transfer, process development, optimization studies,assay development and qualification, analytical testing, Current GoodManufacturing Practice (CGMP) manufacture, quality assurance oversight, safetytesting, product release and storage, drug substance and drug product stabilitytesting program, IND-enabling studies, and regulatory submissions. This FOAwill not provide funds for conducting the clinical studies; applicants areencouraged to collaborate with NIAID-supported clinical trial networks or todevelop other relationships to support the clinical studies.
