$100,000CAD The total amount available for this prize is $100,000, enough to fund one prize for one year. The prize consists of a medal and a grant. CIHR's financial contributions for this initiative are subject to availability of funds. Should CIHR funding levels not be available or are decreased due to unforeseen circumstances, CIHR reserves the right to reduce, defer or suspend financial contributions funds received as a result of this prize.

Nominations will only be accepted from institutions, organizations and networks with a recognized standing in the research and/or knowledge translation communities. Nominations may be submitted for individuals within the Canadian context. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Nominated candidates must hold a full time research appointment (e.g., faculty appointment providing eligibility to apply for grants and/or supervise trainees) for a period of 0 to 10 years.

The CIHR Gold Leaf Prize for Outstanding Achievements by an Early Career Investigator recognizes outstanding early career investigators in order to support excellence in the next generation. It provides prestigious recognition to an outstanding health researcher who is expected to continue to produce research of exceptional merit. Eligibility Nominations will only be accepted from institutions, organizations and networks with a recognized standing in the research and/or knowledge translation communities. Nominations may be submitted for individuals within the Canadian context. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Nominated candidates must hold a full time research appointment (e.g., faculty appointment providing eligibility to apply for grants and/or supervise trainees) for a period of 0 to 10 years.
