From reflection to phronesis in 'good' physiotherapy practice

Summary: This research aimed to examine experienced musculoskeletal practitioners' perceptions of reflection in the practice of a 'good' physiotherapist. Findings identified six key themes related to 'being reflective' in a 'good' physiotherapist, including learning from experience, integrating multiple perspectives, navigating indeterminate zones, developing embodied knowledge, questioning assumptions, and cultivating wisdom. These findings support the idea that 'good' physiotherapy involves wise judgments through reflection and can inform educational initiatives to nurture reflective practices in professional life.

Telehealth assessment of autism in preschoolers using the TELE-ASD-PEDS: A pilot clinical investigation

Summary: This pilot study investigated the feasibility of integrating a specially-designed telepractice autism assessment tool into a tertiary diagnostic service. Results showed that the TELE-ASD-PEDS was a feasible assessment tool and parents provided mostly positive feedback. This study highlights the potential of telepractice in autism assessments.

Comparing treadmill and overground versions of the two-minute walk test in people with low back pain

Influence of falls, fall-related injuries, and fear of falling on social participation in people aging with long-term physical disability: a cross-sectional study

Mental and behavioural disorders increase the risk of tendon rupture after flexor tendon repair in zone I and II

Psychometric properties of an Arabic translation of the chronic pain acceptance questionnaire (CPAQ) in a sample of patients with chronic pain

Summary: The Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire (CPAQ) was translated and validated into Arabic (CPAQ-Ar), and the results showed good reliability and validity in Arabic-speaking patients with chronic pain. The CPAQ-Ar consists of two subscales, and better pain acceptance is associated with male gender, older age, employment, low pain intensity, and single pain site.

Community as Therapy: The Theory of Social Practice

Summary: The efficacy of the Clubhouse model's interventions in supporting recovery from serious mental illness has been demonstrated, but the underlying causal mechanisms and theory driving these outcomes have not yet been fully defined. This theory article aims to provide a unified theory of social practice by synthesizing existing knowledge and discussing its role in SMI recovery. Based on prior theory and findings, social practice is defined as the informed application of environmental therapy in an intentional community to assist people in their recovery. The article also highlights the impact of social practice on SMI outcomes and motivational forces.

Hamstring spasticity assessment: does the hip flexion angle impact outcomes?
