Summary: The early dark energy scenario aims to increase the value of the Hubble constant inferred from cosmic microwave background data by introducing a new form of energy density in the early Universe. In this paper, the EDE model is fitted to CMB data from the ACT, and the existence of EDE is preferred at a high confidence level. This study suggests that future data from ACT and other ground-based experiments will provide a powerful test of the EDE scenario.

Dark matter effect on the weak deflection angle by black holes at the center of Milky Way and M87 galaxies

Reggie C. Pantig, Ali Ovgun

Summary: In this paper, the effect of dark matter on the weak deflection angle by black holes at the galactic center is investigated. Three known dark matter density profiles are considered and the positional angles are measured using the Ishihara et al. method. The emergence of apparent divergent terms on the dark matter profiles is found, but they vanish when the distance from the black hole is large. The weak deflection angle varies interestingly with the impact parameter, providing insights into the interaction between dark matter and null particles.

Singlet-doublet fermion origin of dark matter, neutrino mass and W-mass anomaly

Debasish Borah, Satyabrata Mahapatra, Narendra Sahu

Summary: Motivated by the anomaly in the W boson mass observed by the CDF collaboration, the authors propose a singlet-doublet Majorana fermion dark matter model. They find that the required correction to the W boson mass can be explained by radiative corrections induced by the singlet-doublet fermions. It is shown that two generations of singlet-doublet fermions can account for the W boson mass anomaly and also be consistent with dark matter phenomenology.

Early and late universe holographic cosmology from a new generalized entropy

Shin'ichi Nojiri, Sergei D. Odintsov, Tanmoy Paul

Summary: The study introduces a new four-parameter entropy function that unifies the early inflation and late dark energy era of the universe. It reveals that the parameters values for early inflation and late dark energy are consistent in this unified scenario. Additionally, the entropic cosmology from the proposed entropy function is equivalent to holographic cosmology.

Summary: The discovery of accelerated expansion in the Universe is a major breakthrough in modern cosmology. Different cosmological probes have been studied to understand this acceleration and constraints have been achieved, but tensions between measurements from different methods have surfaced recently. It is crucial to expand the selection of cosmological probes to validate results and increase accuracy.

Islands and Page curves in charged dilaton black holes

Ming-Hui Yu, Xian-Hui Ge

Summary: The study uses the island paradigm to analyze the Page curve of eternal Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger dilaton black holes in four dimensional asymptotically flat spacetime. The results show that the entanglement entropy stops growing in the presence of the island, reaching a saturation value that is consistent with the finiteness of the von Neumann entropy. Additionally, the study investigates the influence of the stringy coefficient and charge on the Page time and the scrambling time.

Summary: This study measured the production of prompt D-0, D+, and D*(+) mesons in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC, and compared the nuclear modification factor (R-AA) of D mesons with theoretical predictions as well as with other hadron species. The comparison of R-AA and v(2) with different models provided insights into the mechanisms of radiative energy loss and charm quark recombination during hadronisation.

Superradiant evolution of the shadow and photon ring of Sgr A

Yifan Chen, Rittick Roy, Sunny Vagnozzi, Luca Visinelli

Summary: Ultralight bosons can affect the dynamics of spinning black holes through superradiant instability, leading to time evolution of supermassive black hole shadows. We introduce two observables, shadow drift and azimuthal angle lapse variation, which are sensitive to shadow time evolution and complementary depending on the observer's inclination angle. For the supermassive object Sgr A*, we show that these observables can vary significantly over a few years and can be observed and used to probe ultralight bosons in the mass range of approximately 10-17 eV, with the help of the Event Horizon Telescope.

The central dogma and cosmological horizons

Edgar Shaghoulian

Summary: This paper explores whether the central dogma of cosmological horizons has any support and proposes consistent answers with the quantum theory of de Sitter space, including a vanishing total entropy, an entropy of A/4G(N) on a single static patch, increasing entropy of a subregion as the region size grows, an island-like transition at half the horizon size, and a de Sitter version of the Hartman-Maldacena transition.

Revealing intrinsic flat ΛCDM biases with standardizable candles

E. O. Colgain, M. M. Sheikh-Jabbari, R. Solomon, G. Bargiacchi, S. Capozziello, M. G. Dainotti, D. Stojkovic

Summary: Emerging high-redshift cosmological probes, particularly quasars, show a preference for larger matter densities. The study also found that at lower redshifts, the universe has a lower matter density, and as the redshift increases, the matter density increases. This finding provides a new perspective on our understanding of the universe.

Subleading contributions to the decay width of the Tcc+ tetraquark

Mao-Jun Yan, Manuel Pavon Valderrama

Summary: The LHCb Collaboration has recently announced the discovery of the T-cc(+) tetraquark, which is only a few hundred keV below the D*+D-0 threshold. It is expected to have a molecular component, and theoretical predictions can be made accurately due to the separation of scales. The important decay channels include D+D-0 pi(0), (DD0)-D-0 pi(+), and D+D-0 gamma. The mass and width of the T-cc(+) tetraquark depend on the resonance profile due to its closeness to threshold.

Summary: In this paper, possible new physics contributions to the W-boson mass from extended Higgs sectors are analyzed, focusing on the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model as an example. The compatibility between parameter regions of the model and the latest CDF experimental results is assessed, along with the compatibility with other precision measurements.

Waveforms from amplitudes

Andrea Cristofoli, Riccardo Gonzo, David A. Kosower, Donal O'Connell

Summary: We demonstrate how to compute classical wave observables using quantum scattering amplitudes. This includes observables with incoming waves as well as those with outgoing waves. The classical limits required can be naturally described by coherent states of massless bosons. We present the reevaluation of the classic gravitational deflection of light and the derivation of Thomson scattering. Additionally, we introduce a new category of local observables, which encompass the asymptotic electromagnetic and gravitational Newman-Penrose scalars. As an example, we calculate a simple radiated waveform: the expectation of the electromagnetic field in charged-particle scattering, which is trivially related to the five-point scattering amplitude at leading order.

Hints of early dark energy in Planck, SPT, and ACT data: New physics or systematics?

Tristan L. Smith, Matteo Lucca, Vivian Poulin, Guillermo F. Abellan, Lennart Balkenhol, Karim Benabed, Silvia Galli, Riccardo Murgia

Summary: By analyzing data from ACT DR4, SPT-3G 2018, Planck polarization, and restricted Planck temperature data, we found a 3.3 sigma preference for early dark energy (EDE) over ACDM. This marks the first time that a moderate preference for EDE has been reported for these combined CMB datasets including Planck polarization.

Constraining primordial black holes as dark matter using the global 21-cm signal with X-ray heating and excess radio background

Shikhar Mittal, Anupam Ray, Girish Kulkarni, Basudeb Dasgupta

Summary: Using the global 21-cm signal measurement from the EDGES collaboration, constraints are derived on the fraction of dark matter in the form of primordial black holes (PBHs) with masses in the range 10^15-10^17 g. The analysis takes into account the X-ray heating effect on the intergalactic medium and utilizes the full shape of the 21-cm absorption feature. The study also considers an excess radio background and finds that PBH-induced heating coupled with X-ray heating is favored by the data.

Exact solution of Kerr black hole perturbations via CFT2 and instanton counting: Greybody factor, quasinormal modes, and Love numbers

Giulio Bonelli, Cristoforo Iossa, Daniel Panea Lichtig, Alessandro Tanzini

Summary: In this paper, we obtain explicit expressions for the finite frequency greybody factor, quasinormal modes, and Love numbers of Kerr black holes by calculating the exact connection coefficients of the radial and angular parts of the Teukolsky equation. The obtained results are consistent with existing literature in the relevant approximation limits. The method used in this study can be extended to solve the linearized Einstein equation in other interesting gravitational backgrounds.
