Summary: This quasi-experimental study aimed to investigate the effects of wearing an abdominal girdle belt on pulmonary function variables of postpartum women. 40 postpartum women were recruited from a clinic in Nigeria and assigned to girdle belt and control groups. Lung function values were measured before and after eight weeks of intervention for each participant. The results showed that wearing girdle belts for an extended period of time has no effect on the lung function values of postpartum women.

Summary: The study demonstrates the value of cancer-directed surgery (CDS) in improving the prognosis of patients with stage IVB endometrial cancer (EC). CDS is closely associated with prolonged overall survival and can effectively improve the survival rate of patients with protective or unfavourable factors. Surgery on primary tumors of the reproductive organs has favorable outcomes, making it worth considering for patients with stage IVB EC.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence, survival, and prognostic factors of cervical cancer with distant organ metastasis, and developed a nomogram to predict prognosis. The study used the SEER database to screen patients diagnosed with cervical cancer from 2010 to 2014. Lung metastasis was found to be the most common in cervical cancer patients with distant organ metastasis. Age, race, tumor characteristics, and therapy were identified as important prognostic factors. The findings can help clinicians formulate individualized treatment strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the motivations for Chinese patients seeking operative labiaplasty. Of the patients surveyed, 22.2% cited cosmetic reasons, while 38.4% reported functional discomfort. It is noteworthy that patients seeking surgical intervention for physical complaints did so as a personal decision, and few patients seeking labiaplasty for cosmetic reasons were influenced by their sexual partner.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between radiation-induced lymphopenia (RIL) and survival in women with cervical cancer (CC). A meta-analysis was conducted using data from 8 cohort studies, including 952 women with CC. The results showed that RIL was independently associated with poor overall survival and progression-free survival in these patients.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the expression pattern of miR-10a-5p in the development of cervical cancer and investigate its downstream target. The results showed that inhibition of miR-10a-5p decreased cell proliferation and impaired invasion and migration in cervical cancer cells, while enhancing apoptosis. UBE2I was identified as a direct target of miR-10a-5p. These findings suggest that miR-10a-5p may be a potential target for the clinical treatment of cervical cancer.

Summary: The aim of this study was to explore the relationships between various adipokines and risks of endometrial atypical hyperplasia (EAH), type I endometrial cancer (EC), and type II EC. The findings showed that the levels of leptin and L/A ratio were significantly higher in EAH patients, while leptin, resistin, vaspin, and visfatin levels were significantly higher in type I EC patients. In type II EC patients, the L/A ratio and visfatin level were significantly higher.

Summary: The current pre-test counseling for non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is inadequate as a significant proportion of women are unaware of the limitations of NIPT. Many misconceptions and knowledge gaps were identified in this study, including the ability of NIPT to identify more conditions than invasive testing, the need for nuchal translucency measurement, and the possibility of incidental findings. Service providers should improve their pre-test counseling to address these deficiencies and help women make informed choices.

Summary: Three-dimensional power Doppler ultrasound (3D-PDU) was used to evaluate microblood perfusion of isolated single umbilical artery (ISUA) foetus placenta and analyse the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) protein. The ISUA group exhibited lower placental blood flow parameters and higher VEGF expression compared to the control group.

Summary: The rates of neonatal abstinence syndrome/neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NAS/NOWS) have been increasing exponentially in the U.S. This study compared and described the rates of rehospitalization, demographic characteristics, and rehospitalization diagnoses between infants affected by NAS/NOWS and those who were unaffected. Infants with NAS/NOWS are 2.7 times more likely to have a rehospitalization, with white, non-Hispanic neonates and infants residing in rural areas being disproportionately affected.

Summary: Using a large administrative database, this study examined whether psychiatric medications are continued during pregnancy in the United States and analyzed predictors of continued medication treatment. The results showed that out of 2,672,656 women included in the analysis, 86,454 (3.1%) filled a pre-pregnancy prescription for an anxiolytic or antidepressant medication within 3 months of estimated conception. The discontinuation rates varied for different pharmaceutical agents, ranging from 16% for fluoxetine to 71% for alprazolam. White women and women over 25 were more likely to continue anxiolytic and antidepressant treatment during pregnancy.

Summary: Supervised physical activity reduces the incidence of GDM during pregnancy. It is recommended that pregnant individuals achieve a minimum of 600 MET center dot min center dot wk(-1) of physical activity during the first trimester in order to reduce their odds of developing GDM. Attaining a healthy pre-pregnancy BMI is also an important determinant for the prevention of GDM with exercise.

Summary: The low participation of men in postpartum family planning is the main reason for the low uptake of family planning among women. Strengthening male participation in family planning is an important public health initiative to improve maternal health. This study assessed factors associated with male participation in postpartum care and found that approval of family planning use, knowledge on family planning, and information source were significantly associated with male involvement. The study highlights the need for further research and consolidation of high male involvement to improve postpartum family planning services.

Summary: Heterotopic pregnancy (HP) is a rare but potentially life-threatening event, and early accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment can decrease adverse complications. Transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS) can accurately diagnose most HP patients. Patients with intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) cardiac activity have a lower miscarriage rate, and an IUP with cardiac activity at HP diagnosis can predict a favorable prognosis.
