Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of nurse practitioners (NPs) in a specialized nursing home for older adults in Japan. The findings showed that the placement of NPs resulted in an increase in residents requiring care, a decrease in emergency outpatient visits, and changes in the relationship between emergency visits and hospitalizations, indicating that the placement of NPs contributed to the appropriate utilization of health care resources.

The results showed that body function was the most frequently detected component, but none of the instruments covered all aspects of the ICF. The Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) demonstrated the most comprehensive coverage of ICF components.
