Summary: This work investigated the influence of particle shape on fluidization behavior at different inlet superficial gas velocities. The experiments were conducted using a laboratory-scale 3D circular fluidized bed column with Geldart D particles of various shapes. The results showed that non-spherical particles had lower minimum fluidization velocities and higher bed expansion compared to spherical particles. Particle shape significantly affected solids holdup, with spherical particles exhibiting higher solids holdup at the same superficial velocity. Frequency domain analysis of pressure signals using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Power Spectral Density (PSD) revealed flow regime transitions associated with changes in particle shape.

Summary: This paper presents measurements of the relative decrease of light output during irradiation of small plastic scintillator tiles read out by silicon photomultipliers. The study found substantial temporary damage during low-temperature irradiation, regardless of oxygen concentration and wrapping material. The wrapping material had an impact on the relative light loss, with the 3M(TM) Enhanced Specular Reflector Film showing the largest loss. The light loss was less at warmer temperatures and similar to that in standard atmosphere with 3% oxygen concentration. Evidence of a plateau in the radical density was seen for the data at 0 degrees C.

Summary: This study improves the sensitivity and selectivity of sensors by controlling the solid-gas interface and manipulating the solid-solid interface. Sensors based on electrospinning cellulose show high sensitivity for humidity detection and can also detect various VOCs. The introduction of silver nanowires to establish a solid-solid interface improves the selectivity for VOCs with faster response/recovery time and long-term cycle stability.

Summary: In this study, a chemiresistive sensor for NO2 detection was fabricated using Bi nanoparticles doped Mn-porphyrin MOF. The sensor exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity, with Bi nanoparticles serving as electron donors to facilitate electron migration. The simultaneous adsorption of NO2 and electron transfer was achieved through the combination of Mn-porphyrin as the detecting site and Bi nanoparticles as supportive sites. Compared to traditional Mn-porphyrin MOF, the Bi@PCN-222-Mn sensor showed higher sensitivity and lower detection limit for NO2.

Summary: High selectivity and fast response are crucial for protecting human health in dangerous environments. The p-n SnO/SnO2 heterostructure, with its synergistic effect on semiconducting properties and interfacial electric field, shows excellent sensing performances. It has a high response rate, fast response time, and superior selectivity compared to other target gases. The presence of oxygen vacancies in the SnO/SnO2 heterostructure is supported by Raman and EPR results, and the role of these vacancies as an effective electron donor for adsorbed oxygen molecules and NO2 target gas is described by XPS and ToF-SIMS analyses. The direct formation of oxygen vacancies in SnO/SnO2 heterostructures is an important reference for the development of high-performance NO2 gas sensors.

Summary: In this study, we developed a dual-organelle-targeting probe called MPBA14+ with selective photosensitizing activity. Through live-cell imaging analysis, we found that MPBA14+ selectively localized in lipid droplets (LDs) and mitochondria, enabling monitoring of their interactions. Additionally, MPBA14+ was shown to induce a recently identified type of proinflammatory cell death called pyroptosis, mediated by mitochondrial dysfunction. The stable fluorescence emitted by MPBA14+ allowed for live-cell imaging analysis of changes in LDs, mitochondria, and peridroplet mitochondria (PDM) via photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Summary: Infrared absorption-spectroscopy (IRAS) is a useful tool for identifying and characterizing molecular species. Plasmonic substrates have greatly enhanced the performance of IRAS technology for high-sensitivity biochemical detection, but their fabrication is still challenging and costly. This study presents a precision photoreduction and replacement reaction combined technology to directly print plasmonic substrates for PEIRAS biodetection. Experimental results show that the printed plasmonic substrate can detect bovine serum albumin at a concentration level of 10 nM, indicating its promising application in IRAS biodetection.
