Summary: As the global population grows, the demand for food, energy, and water will increase significantly. However, limited land availability and competition for solar resources pose challenges to resource generation technologies. In the United States, both agriculture and solar energy production have adopted densification schemes to improve yields and energy output per unit of land. This research proposes an Agrivoltaic food and energy coproduction architecture that optimizes power generation while maintaining crop productivity by implementing ideal anti-tracking during critical growth periods. This technology offers a viable pathway for widespread solar implementation throughout the contiguous United States.

Summary: This study reviewed three potential risks of double skin facade (DSF): overheating, structural, and fire risks. It analyzed their manifestations, influencing factors, and possible mitigation strategies. The study found that optimizing design parameters or adding components can reduce overheating risk, improving building shapes and vent sizes can reduce structural risk, and optimizing design parameters and adding specific materials can mitigate fire risk. The study emphasizes the importance of considering the energy performance, application scenarios, and corresponding risk areas of different types of DSFs.

Summary: The advancement of controlled-environment agriculture, particularly in plant factories, offers an innovative solution to address the rising demand for food due to global population growth and urbanization. However, the intensive energy requirements of these systems have raised sustainability concerns. This study introduces a novel cyber-physical-biological system (CPBS) that accurately captures plant biological dynamics and optimizes energy usage and resource expenses in plant factories. The CPBS leverages physics-informed deep learning (PIDL) techniques to develop efficient digital twins for control, leading to improved accuracy and decision-making.
