Generalized seizures after acute fluoxetine overdose in four adolescents

Effect of no-flow period on the vasopressor effect of initial epinephrine administration in cardiac arrest

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the duration of no-flow (NF) interval on the vaso-pressor effect of initial epinephrine administration in a porcine model of cardiac arrest. The results showed that a shorter NF interval can enhance the vasopressor effect of epinephrine.

Impact of pharmacists during in-hospital resuscitation or medical emergency response events: A systematic review

Summary: This systematic review suggests that the presence and intervention of a pharmacist during resuscitation or medical emergency response team care can have a positive impact on patient outcomes, such as time to administration of critical medications, medication appropriateness, and guideline compliance. However, the studies included in this review were mostly small, retrospective, and not powered to detect differences in patient-related measures like length of stay and mortality.

Performance of Google bard and ChatGPT in mass casualty incidents triage

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the performance of ChatGPT, Google Bard, and medical students in performing START triage during mass casualty situations. The results showed that Google Bard had significantly higher accuracy compared to ChatGPT, while there was no significant difference between Google Bard and medical students.

Mid-to-late stage diquat accumulation in the central nervous system: A severe case of oral poisoning

Summary: This article reports a case of diquat poisoning and highlights the importance of being aware of the development of pulmonary symptoms and neurological complications in patients. Interestingly, the study also found a correlation between the concentration of diquat in the cerebrospinal fluid and both the intracranial pressure and the severity of cerebral edema.

Rates of pediatric emergency department visits vary according to neighborhood marginalization in Ottawa, Canada

Summary: This study aimed to determine the association between neighborhood marginalization and rates of pediatric emergency department (ED) visits in Ottawa, Ontario. The results showed that neighborhoods with high residential instability, high material deprivation, and low ethnic concentration had higher rates of pediatric ED visits. These findings emphasize the importance of considering neighborhood factors when planning alternative emergency care.

Epidemiologic features and outcomes associated with caustic ingestion among adults admitted in intensive care unit from 2013 to 2019: a French national observational study

Clinical efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty versus percutaneous kyphoplasty treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with kyphosis

Summary: This study compared the clinical efficacy of PVP and PKP in treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with kyphosis. The results showed that PVP had a shorter operative time and was more economical, while both methods had similar outcomes in terms of pain relief and functional recovery. PKP showed more significant improvements in vertebral height, wedge angle, and local kyphotic angle post-operatively.
