Supraclavicular lymphangioma presenting in the sixth decade of life: A case report

Christina Matl, Lacey Durham, Borislav A. Alexiev, James C. Wang

Summary: This article presents an extremely rare case of an adult supraclavicular lymphangioma. The patient underwent surgical removal of a cystic mass in the supraclavicular region, which was confirmed to be a cavernous lymphangioma through histopathology. Although supraclavicular lymphangiomas in adulthood are uncommon, they should not be disregarded as a potential cause of supraclavicular masses.

Histologic and proteomic profile of two methods to decellularize human dental pulp tissue

Viviane Martins dos Santos Ribeiro, Mauricio Gonsalves da Costa Sousa, Paula Ribeiro Garcia, Lucas Souza dos Santos, Eliza Carla Barroso Duarte, Jose Raimundo Correa, Carlos Alberto Labate, Thais Regiani Cataldi, Rosiane Andrade da Costa, Marcelo Henrique Soller Ramada, Juliana Lott de Carvalho, Taia Maria Berto Rezende

Summary: This study compared the structural and proteomic architecture of decellularized human dental pulp using two different protocols. The results showed that the ECM preserved in the MG protocol was more intact. Proteomic analysis revealed that the MG protocol maintained around 69.56% of the proteins identified in the untreated pulp tissue, while the SG protocol only maintained 28.26%.

High glucose levels delay the senescence of stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth by suppressing autophagy

Jinjin Lu, Lixin Zhang, Ningxin Zhu, Dan Wang, Fei Xie, Man Qin, Yuanyuan Wang

Summary: The study investigated the effects of varying glucose concentrations on the proliferation and senescence of SHED and hBMSC. It was found that high glucose levels promoted proliferation in both cell types, but delayed senescence in SHED through autophagy inhibition and accelerated senescence in hBMSC. Additionally, the glycolysis in SHED was enhanced under high glucose culture conditions compared to hBMSC.

Head and neck cancer stem cell maintenance relies on mTOR signaling, specifically involving the mechanistic target of rapamycin complexes 1 and 2 (mTORC1 and mTORC2)

Luciana O. Almeida, Luan Cesar Silva, Carolina Emerick, Juliana Amorim dos Santos, Rogerio M. Castilho, Cristiane H. Squarize

Summary: This study found that the loss of PTEN signaling increases the population of HNSCC CSCs, which can be targeted by rapamycin. However, a deficiency in mTORC2 can lead to problematic selection of the parasphere CSC subtype.

Transoral robotic surgery in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma: A comparative study between da Vinci Single-Port and da Vinci Xi systems

Andrea Costantino, Claudio Sampieri, Piero Giuseppe Meliante, Armando De Virgilio, Se-Heon Kim

Summary: This study compares the outcomes of transoral resections using the da Vinci SP and da Vinci Xi systems for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). The results indicate that the da Vinci SP system has advantages in terms of reduced docking and console times, as well as improved rates of wide negative resection margins. However, there were no significant differences in complication rates or postoperative functional outcomes between the two systems.

Patients' experience with teledentistry compared to conventional follow-up visits in TMD clinic: A pilot study

Alaa Husni Qari, Raghad Mohammed Alharbi, Shahd Saud Alomiri, Banan Nasser Alandanusi, Lina Ayman Mirza, Mohammad Hasan Al-Harthy

Summary: The study compares the experience of patients seen using teledentistry with traditional Orofacial Pain and TMD visits. Results indicated a borderline difference in effectively using teledentistry for follow-ups among different age groups, but no significant differences were found in patients' experience between virtual and conventional visits. This suggests that high-quality dental care services can be provided remotely without adversely affecting patient experience or quality of care.

Segmental mandibulectomy for mandibular osteoradionecrosis in an older adult with underweight status

Junya Kusumoto, Yuka Hayase, Yuriko Susukida, Takumi Sato, Akiko Sakakibara, Masaya Akashi

Summary: Refractory osteomyelitis can lead to complications in advanced mandibular osteoradionecrosis (ORN), such as recurrent cellulitis and pathological fractures. The optimal treatment for such conditions has not been established yet. Difficulty in intake and severe pain caused by mandibular ORN may result in malnutrition and underweight. Refeeding syndrome (RFS) should be considered in invasive surgical procedures.
